Teen Ambassadors

At the Independence Seaport Museum, we strive to connect visitors with Philadelphia’s River of history and world of connections. As Teen Ambassadors, high school students have the opportunity to do just that!
This program will train Ambassadors in community-based leadership, research, and museum education. While the program is led by our education department, experts across fields of science, history, art, and politics will come in and speak with participants on a weekly basis.
The Ambassadors will work on the museum floor with guests, to develop public speaking, teamwork, and other professional skills. Ambassadors are encouraged to pick lessons that they find the most interesting and add their own spin to those topics. Additionally, they will work on a number of projects that utilize our collections, boat shop, and the Delaware River. The program utilizes a humanities-driven STEM model, which encourages a holistic understanding of the history and science of the Delaware River. At the culmination of the program, participants will have a chance to share what they learned to an audience of city-leaders, professionals, and their families.
By the end of the program, ambassadors will have a better understanding of the principles of sustainability, STEM, and history. Ambassadors will be equipped to be change-makers in their neighborhoods, schools, and the greater Philadelphia community. Please apply no later than April 11th!
