Online Catalog

Thank you for your interest in digital research opportunities at the Independence Seaport Museum! Our online database is currently under construction as we build a more unique and accessible user portal powered by CatalogIt.

Check this page for updates as we make this transition!

In the meantime, please reach out to Sarah Augustine, Archivist, at saugustine@phillyseaport.org for any research questions.

We are excited to unveil our new online catalog and continue sharing our collections with the public.

Our Collections

Here at the Seaport Museum, we are dedicated to providing opportunities for visitors, whether in-person or online, to discover Philadelphia’s river of history and world of connections. The J. Welles Henderson Research Center is home to one of the largest regionally-specific maritime collections in the country, including objects, prints, paintings, manuscripts, charts, and books. Our collections highlight mainstays in the maritime history of the Philadelphia area, like shipbuilding and infrastructure, while also showcasing global trade and its impact. We also have extensive collections illustrating our two historic museum ships, Olympia and Becuna.

For questions about our collections, email Sarah Augustine, Archivist, at saugustine@phillyseaport.org.
