Pups at Sea
Independence Seaport Museum, in partnership with Street Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) and For the Love of Dog, will host Pups at Sea on Saturday, June 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pups at Sea is a day filled with dog-friendly activities onboard Olympia's Weather Deck. Tickets are $15 and do not include Museum admission.
Activities onboard Olympia include:
- Puppy kissing booth
- Old timey dog photo booth
- STAR dog adoption
- Nautical-themed costume contest for dogs
- Olympia's Living History Crew
- Silent auction
The Seaport Museum's Living History Crew will be onboard in full Victorian naval dress to tell visitors about the ship and the animals that called Olympia home. The ship will also be decorated with historic photographs from the Museum archives depicting animals that lived onboard or visited the ship.
Independence Seaport Museum is proud to partner with STAR to help raise money and awareness for both the rescue of animals and our historic ship. The Olympia was an active naval ship and pets were a staple onboard. The famous Admiral George Dewey always had his faithful pup, Bob, with him while he served aboard the Olympia. The Seaport Museum is excited to bring our rich, pet-loving history alive at Pups at Sea!
All proceeds raised at the event will help support the Olympia and STAR. All dogs must be leashed and attended at all times. Please bring dogs that are friendly and play well with others. In the event of rain, the event will be held the following weekend on Saturday, June 28.
